Problem is corrected. It was related to one of the views in AIS Roles application which was invalidated.

Batch Service Intervention |
We will update the LSF version on the batch service to a new patch version
(7.0.5 -> 7.0.6). We will also reboot the master batch nodes to pick up a new kernel.
There will be two short periods (up to 5 minutes) when no new jobs can be submitted.
Running jobs will not be affected.

CASEDB database upgrade |
The CASEDB database, hosting the Oracle Designer Repository, will undergo a major upgrade with all the stack components affected (hw/sw) - see link for details.
Client posts will need a new version of the Oracle Designer tools to access the new repository. Instructions will be posted after the upgrade.

IT/CS servers kernel update |
Progressively during this period an update to the kernel of the IT/CS servers will be performed in order to patch critical vulnerability CVE-2009-4141
These updates are expected to be transparent and the interventions are scheduled between 07:30 and 09:00 on the days concerned.

Due to a low demand and very marginal usage of ia64 architecture in Scientific Linux CERN users community we would like to announce that we will stop the support for it on the 31st of March 2010. See link for details

As part of the clean-up before moving to the new printer server infrastructure, a standardisation of all printer names has been started. Printer names must reflect the printer location (building, floor & room) and type, e.g. B513-R048-HP. See link for details. |

Removal of DNS A records for mail routing suffixes |
This announcement concerns only managers of MTA (Mail Transfer Agents: sendmail, postfix etc.) and applications sending anonymous mail from the CERN network.
During that day , the DNS 'A' records will be removed for the following DNS names used as mail routing suffixes: mail.cern.ch, listbox.cern.ch, cernxchg.cern.ch. See links for details |

Personal smartphones: new VeriSign Root certificate required
|
A necessary update of a certificate on the central mail servers (Exchange Servers) resulted in some Windows Mobile devices (e.g. HTC running Windows Mobile software) failing to synchronize. Please read the FAQ for a solution:

AutoCAD License server shutdown for old versions of AutoCAD |
The old license servers CERNFLEX01,02 & 03 will be removed by the end of January. Old Autodesk products as AutoCAD 2002, 2004,2006 and related versions of Inventor will not work anymore after the 1st of February 2010. Please plan to upgrade to the latest Autodesk 2010 products during January. The new license servers are CERNVFLXN01, 02 & 03. |

Non responding printers to be removed from the Print Service |
As of Jan 18, 228 printers that do not respond to network requests have been removed from the Central Print Services. Update 26 January: another 4 printers have been put back online. see the link on left for details.

Status of Windows 7 at CERN - Windows 7 Pilot Project |
As of December 2009, Windows 7 is available for installation at CERN within the Windows 7 Pilot Project.
Users are encouraged to install Windows 7 on the supported hardware (currently only the new PC models from CERN stores). User experience is better than on Vista and more applications will soon be available!

Linux "phonebook" replaces ageing "phone" |
The old Linux "phone" command is going to be removed on November 30th on lxplus and on January 11th 2010 on lxbatch and SLC4/5 PCs and replaced by the new "phonebook" command, available on SLC4 and SLC5.
